2000 Ford Explorer, after 20 years of letting others fix my cars, I deceided to start fixing my own car and teach my 14 year old in the process. I took my truck to the required Illinois Emisson Test and failed, reasons indicated are: P0171 and P0174, System too Lean, OBD malfunction indicator light lit. Is there a quick fix to this? Can I turn a screw to adjust the leanneess???? I went ahead and changed the Air Filter, Fuel Filter and gave it an oil change while I was at it. But the "CHECK ENGINE" light still on. Any help / suggestions will be appreciated....
