I posted earlier about a small oil leak. It is just putting a drop in the garage every once in a while. I had an oil leak repaired at the dealership about a year ago and was wondering if it is just the same one returned.
The repair ticket said "diagnose and tighten Air Charge Tube Connector RT Head."
Can one of you wizards decipher that and tell me where to look to see if it is the same thing again? Don't want to drop another 76 bucks if I can tighten it myself.
Sounds like they tightened up the orange CAC boots. It might be a good idea to check all your boots to make sure they're not loose.
There are other possibilities for the leak too. Look up on top of the motor in the valley (between the heads) and see how much oil you have in there. It could be an o-ring leaking somewhere else. Also make sure it is oil that's leaking and not diesel. A fuel leak will mix with the sludge on top of the motor and look like oil by the time it drips.
It's the intercooler boot, the repair ticket indicates the right head but I would bet it was at the intercooler on the driver's side, that's where they usually drip oil.
Boy talk about a DA. I checked all around the top of the engine and valley and no oil. Dry as a bone. Got to thinking, gee, why not look underneath. I crawled under and low and behold there was a drop of oil on the drain plug. The pan was dry all around, so I guess I got bit by the old brass washer bug.
Thanks for the help, now if I can get my head out of, well you know.
