i jump, dance and run around screaming like a school girl when i get startled by snakes. if i dont get startled i can almost control myself but surprise and it is all over!. I cant watch snake shoes on tv without needing to change my panties. my daughter and i were laying on the couch together watching a show on king cobras, one lunged for the tv, and i jumped and shreiked and all the school girl horse puckey. my daughter, a 6 yr old called me a sissy, and told me it was okay, it was on tv. can we just keep this between us? Dan
I don't mind spiders as long as I can see them before they land on me. Its the "surprise" of something crawling on me that freaks me out. We had a black widow that we fed for over a year until she passed on. That was cool to watch her chase, stun, wrap and go in for the kill. We have Banana Spiders all over the place and watching them build their webs is pretty cool.
I find snakes fascinating to watch and as long as its not a poisonous snake and I see it first, I'm okay with them too.
I don't mind spiders but we had a cane spider the size of my hand the scared the bejesus out of her. It was all legs & you could hear it walking on the drywall. Since they don't grow sugar cane in Hawaii anymore maybe those spiders are gone too.
I live and grew up in the woods. Spiders and snakes sleep with me at night...
Actually, I was on my way home last night and I noticed a blur in front of my face. Got to looking closer, and a spider started making a web from my dash to my sunvisor while I was driving...
I let him continue until I got home, then removed it.
Not scared unless but I can be surprised, I'm the big spider killer in the household (unless they're REALLY big lol). Never been afraid of snakes but have a healthy respect for anything that rattles, I try not to get close enough to find out.
Spiders can be easily squashed so they don't scare me at all.
Rattlers, Sidewinders, Coral snakes, and snakes longer than 6' are scary if I'm not armed. Armed = Firearm, shovel, hatchet, machete, flamethrower (preferred!), etc.
The Mojave Rattlesnake is especially nasty as they're very agressive. Note from the Digital Desert website: "General Comments: This is probably the most dangerous snake in North America. It is aggressive, fairly large-bodied, and has a complex venom composed of hemolytic and neurotoxic elements. It is responsible for several deaths each year, including in recent years a prominent snake toxin expert. This snake should be avoided."
Coral (venomous) vs King snake (non-venomous): Red touches black, friend of Jack. Red touches yellow, bite a fellow!
