My son and my wife have had some sort of mutiny, they insist that I leave the newly rebuilt truck in primer. This goes against every fiber in me, it just looks unfinished! Well my question is how do I go about this? do I use the clear coat as is or do I ask for a type of clear? It is in light gray primer, if I use regular clear coat it will look like silver or am I wrong, my son dose not want shinny he wants flat Help Please
Primer wont keep a consistent finish after a while and it'll end up looking like chit. I'm thinking a clear coat would make it look worse. Talk them into paint
thank you all for the replies, after reading a few other post to them I convinced them that we should go all the way with paint,my son had seen a fat fender that was in mat finish ,he thought it was primer, after the read on this subject here he opted for paint, cause dad just will not re-due this truck. I painted my '84 Mustang in light gray primer. I did the hood scoop and rocker panels in black primer. I then used a low gloss clear. it looked pretty cool... until that tree hit it.
