Toilet paper. Every one would be pretty red-assed most of the day...if not for a good soft chunk of terlet paper.

I assume you're just joking , because if not you're giving yourself an undue pat on the back. That letter was probably just good customer relations, because they didn't get the idea from you.

- Ford Mustang had an underhood light in late 65 for the 66 year.
- The Corvair had it in 65 for the 66 model year.
- The Oldsmobile 88 had it in the early/mid-50s.
- 1948 Studebaker Command and Champion had it as an option.
- 1947 Pontiac Torpedo had it as an option.
- 1946 Dodge Desoto had it.

I believe it was available as far back as 1938, I find patents which reference it.

C2RZ-15A700-A .. Genuine Ford Accessory Underhood or Trunk Light

Fits: all Ford vehicles 1962 and later.

Packard offered an underhood light on the new 1941 Clipper that was on a reel under the hood.

The cord was ten feet long, so it could be used for other purposes, like providing illumination for changing tires at night.
