I've read all the posts on how to repair the actuators but....
My rear hatch will not lock period, with the key, or the remote. If I use the key I can turn it but it just dosn't lock. It feels like it moves the appropriate amount when I turn the key, about to the 10 or 2 oclock position but the hatch never locks. I pulled the plastic covering off on the inside and i can see the actuator arm and it appears to move but I don't know how much it should move or if this is another problem. I don't think it is the motor becuase it won't lock with key or remote.
SO, is it just dusty, needs a good WD40 bath or is this something else.
I had the same sort of problem. When using the remote the actuator would do its motion but not move the arm to lock. With the plastic pc off, I used a silicone spray down of the lock, the arms and area and used the key to lock and unlock several times. This took care of the problem. Hopefully it works for u as well. Its interesting how we tend to use remote to lock and unlock and never seem to use keys anymore, (why they even bother with the key is beyond me)
Thats exactly what I did except i used WD40. I read somewhere that this area gets really dusty, which it was. I always notice that thier is a lot of dirt build up between the gate and the hatch. So, took it apart and watched the actuation. The arm moves but their was so much dirt at the point where the lock arm and the electronic actuator are that it was binding. So, WD40 and let it sit over night and vuala, works like a champ.
