The 351K has me worried thats a lot of miles and PSD is not a cheap engine to rebuild I would keep what you have. I think the 7.3 is a great engine but anything with that many miles is a time bomb with a short fuse. At least now you have two so if one goes down your not stuck walking. Just my $.02

Why does this guy wanna trade you? Why do you wanna trade him?
If it was me I wouldn't even consider twice trading the trucks for the PSD. Then again that's why I'm on these forums. haha But by the same token another guy might jump at the chance.
I can't say for sure about this, but what about depreciation? How would that come into play in comparison with the trucks? What was this truck used for? Besides that though, 351k is a lot of clicks on an expensive engine. How much would it cost you to replace an engine in one of your trucks? A transmission?...
At 351k that whole truck is comming to the end of it's life cycle. Bearings , front end , brakes, trans and engine , if they haven't been replaced are all overdue and are borrowed time if you ask me. If the truck you have run good and since you know what you have , I think you may be getting somebody else's trouble. None of the parts for a 350 PSD are cheap nor plentiful on the used market, unlike your 79's. It's just my opinion but I think you are asking for a world of hurt if you trade.
It's your call obviously but me personally i wouldn't do it, at 351k miles that '97 PSD is about 50k miles away from needing a complete overhaul (if you're lucky) not to mention you give up the cool factor of owning and driving these old school fords.
I would keep your trucks. I have a two 7.3's my 96 has 237k on it .It still runs great, got it from a fireman who took really good care of it. I hope to get another 100k out of it. 351k is very scary to me. Is it an auto ?? These are the weak link in OBS. Parts are alot more for diesel. I replaced the starter in Dec $200.00. Oil changes 14 quarts . Dual batteries. If you live where it's cold ,starting means plugging up the block heater. Diesel is running $4.09 here .I would keep your classics.
Well its gettin looked at on tuesday, I love my fords I do, i have had 6! But If i get the diesel i can turn around and sell it for 4500?? I will be ahead of what i have now. Sincei put about 1k into the bronco. lol. It is a tough decision.
From i have been told it was a contractors truck, who sold it to one of his employees, who then sold it to his son. His son scares me, he drove my truck and im pretty sure i lost 1/4 of a tank. So i believe the miles are alot of high way.
I hear ya, 351k is more then my two trucks and our beast. But hey diesels can last up to 500k+ I dont drive any more then 10k a year. I know the u joints are goin, and man, why must diesels be so frikin expensive.
well if hes givin me 1 pos then it might look like im givin him 2... both my trucks have had the trans replaced/rebuilt lol!!!
I live in black forest Co. It does get cold, and I would like to sell the bronco for 1500, but gas and some things need to be fixed...as always...
Its good for me because i have a ford master down the street, I get most of my parts from him. He is a crazy ford guru! no joke! i think he eats, sleeps, dreams, craps, lives with ford! I sold him a my truck that threw a distributor 8 times! he took the engine apart and told me i spiralled the oil pump shaft, broke the timming chain. He fixed it put in his beast of a truck! I want to be like him one day!
I wouldn't trade. with 351k miles I would figure it is about wore out. Being a contractors truck it was probaly used hard. Seems like he is trying to get rid of a wore out truck
