03 F350 diesel HELP

Ok guy's, I have a 00 f250 4x4 7.3 diesel with the jumpseat, I have 162,000 miles on it, I love my truck but I would love the 4 door one, as my kids are getting bigger, I'm looking at a 03 6.0 diesel 4door 4x4 with 55,000 miles on it at a dealer and was wondering, I hear alot of bad things about these 6.0's and my brother-n-law works at a dealer and said don't do it. So what I'm asking is, Is it realy that bad of a truck should I just keep mine and wait to get a used 08 later or look for a low mile 03 7.3, I test drove the truck today and seem ok and very ouick of the line, oh has a 3.73 rear. Give me your good and bad points.

The 03-early 04's had there share of problems. I had an 04 that was bought back and currently own a 06 and still love it. I would maybe hesitate a little and I emphasize little cause there are alot of them out there with a lot of trouble free miles. My issues with the 04 were more with the dealers around here not willing to fix it...thats neither here no there.I would run an Oasis on it, see the oasis link, get the vin # and post it. Talk to your buddy at the the dealer where the truck is maybe he knows something you dont. I wouldnt hesitate to buy a 6.0. My advice would be to try and find an 05 or later truck. Do some reading here as these trucks do require some extra attention in some areas that your 7.3 doesnt. Do some research on the truck and hopefully feel good about getting it. It all comes down to wether the thruck males you feel happy in the pants when you drive it. Good luck and dont let the 6.0l scare ya. Once you have it you will love it.

Good Points:

Miles ahead of the 7.3 in technology and in power. If you go auto the torqshift blows the 7.3 auto tranny away hands down one of the best autos that I have ever dealt with. If the 03 your looking at comes back clean and you straight pipe the exhaust and take out that silencer ring you'll love the turbo whistle as the 03s have the best whistle out of them all. Bottom line I wouldn't trade my 6.0 for any 7.3 out there.

Bad Points:

It does have it's design flaws and if you have one of those that has seen it's share of troubles it'll take some money to make it right, but once it is you'll have a killer truck. I would run an oasis especially since your looking at an 03, but I would suggest that no matter what year your thinking about, but especially for the 03s.

Thanks guys, I was looking and looking on here till I fell a sleep at the keyboard, I did see where you can get the report and someone was very helpful with that, got it back the sameday, it was in the shop 21 time and only has 55,000 miles on, So I think I'm going to pass, the first time it was at the shop was with 365 miles on it for not shifting and rough idle, but all the recalls were done on it, so it may be a good truck now, or may not be, so I think I'm going to just keep my 00 7.3 for awhile longer, I have no problems with it, and I know I can get in it and drive to cali with my trailer and not be sitting on the edge on my seat wait for it to break down. LOL, Do you know if and where I can get a report on my 2000 f-250, I did not see any links for that. I got my 00 with 60,000 on it and never had a problem and I have 162,000 on it now. Thanks.
