Bought a 2006 GT month before Katrina.... Katrina re-arranged priorities and back to trucks... Sucks cause I had mods ready to add but post Katrina New Orleans was no place for a new Mustang...
they quite making the svt cobra. 04 was the last year. you can get a shelby gt500, but they are hard to find and cost alot. just get a gt and put a turbo kit on it. don't mess around with all the other bolt on's. i have 2 older mustangs (1994) a cobra and a gt. the gt i put every bolt on that you can think of. it is fun and makes good power but with the cobra i just went with the turbo that cost just about the same as all the bolt on's and is way faster and funner. how do you post pic's? i will post some of the 2
I have a 07 Pony Mustang with the 4.0 V6 with a 5sp, very fun car. With the price of fuel and Insurance, I'm happy with the V6. I put on a 69 Mustang hood scoop and pin striped the tail lights, to change the looks a little.

Both the GT and V6 are bargains. It would not be terribly difficult to drive out with a new GT for $22k and tax, and a V6 for $5000 less. Don't let anyone kid you, the V6 ain't no slouch, and they are pretty easy to mod.
My parents have 3 '60s Mustangs: a '67 Fastback GTA, a '68 Coupe and a '67 Convertable. I think the coupe cost them $12,000, the GTA cost them $20,000 and the convertable cost them $5,000 (the convertable needs A LOT of work).
Some people will tell you that V6 Mustangs are lame. However, if you just want a cool car to cruise around in and dont care about going fast or being able to burn off the rear tires, theres nothing wrong with a V6.
Personally, Id be honored to own ANY Mustang. V6, V8 it doesnt matter. Mustangs are cool cars no matter how you look at it.
I love my 07 GT, I haven't had this much fun in a car in 25 years. With the retro styling, it looks like my 67 fastback. It's fast and very well built, I believe it's built on the linclon LS platform or something to that effect. It also handle's awesome, it's just a solid well built american muscle car. My fastest time at the strip was 13.01, it's all stock except for a hurst shifter and 4:30 gears. My old 68 GT with a 428 was only in the low 14's all stock. But to be fair to the 428, traction was a big problem on stock tires, but then the 07 doesn't have any trouble lighting them up either. I'm glad that I broke down and bought another mustang after all these years, I forgot how much fun they can be. It gets decent mpg, I get around 22 local and 25-26 highway. The shelby's are nice, but way over priced, you can mod out a GT the way you want it for half the price of a shelby, but if you have the coin, it's all good.
