Question on Building and Household Electrical CODE

As far as I know - when you run conduit, there must be 360 degrees or less of total bends in a length of conduit, or you have to run a junction box. If there is more than 360 degrees without a junction box - it violates code in most states...

Is this true?

It also seems to me you have to run a plan by the local building inspectors anytime new wire is run.

Reason I ask is over a technical issue I ran across. Any input much appreciated,

~Wolfuss

Yes, that is true. Imagine trying to pull wire in a circle. I can find chapter and verse if you'd like. As far as plans for changes/additions you would need to talk to the local AHJ.

I have a stepson who was a journeyman electrician running conduit and wire in new shopping malls a few years ago - I could swear I remember this same discussion from back then - I need to verify it somehow.

It isn't ford truck wiring, or I'd have put it in the forum for that.

I NEED THAT!

It may be California code, it may be federal, but what I remember is ringing warning bells. You don't go beyond 360 without a break.....

You got it. It bothered me last night - and I sent a voice mail to the owner about it.

I'm sure he won't appreciate a thing like that getting by without SOMEONE calling it.

(It sucks to find out too late)

But no power is connected yet, so we're still covered.

Two things bothered me about that job:
1) I had no idea how many tools I'd wish I had.
2) The guy I was working with had such a country speach thang I almost needed an interpreter...

AND I'M COUNTRY!!!

There shall not be more than the equivalent of four quarter bends (360 degrees total) between pull points, for example, conduit bodies and boxes.
