Replacing Rear Window
I am going to be replacing my rear window on my 05 Ford Ranger It looks pretty straight forward (I Hoping)really take off panels, windows bolted in yada yada yada Not being a Master Mechanic tho whats the goop they use around the window some kind of Silicone or such? Any tips on removing\installing windows?

It is a urethane (sp?) sealer, You can buy it in caulk gun tubes at body suppy shops and some auto supply stores. 3M also makes a kit, they use a ribbon type. Wear gloves, the stuff is like tar when it you get it on you.
You put the sealer in place on the body and place the glass into it, you have one shot, so take your time and don't miss. Greg

I think yours is the same as mine. You can take the rear panel out (4 screws I think) and just pull up on the interior panels to get to the nuts. You have to be careful, but its a whole bunch easier than trying to get those panels out. And yeah, wear gloves. My understanding is that ford has a part number for a "factory" replacement gasket kit and dont think it was that bad. Try giving ford a call, its a lace/felt/goo kind. Also, get someone else to help you to guide you in and hold the window till you get the nuts started!
