I just took off my valve covers to change the gaskets. In doing so I dropped a wire holding clip down by the pushrod. I had it in my fingers then it dissapeared. I am thinking I need to take off the intake and it will be there. Any differant thoughts??? Also I have been getting ready to get a intake gasket and saw two types. The valley pan tray with two rubber strips and the one without the tin. Any thoughts of which is better? Thanks in advance.
If you use the paper gakets you have to block the exhaust crossover in the manifold. Otherwise oil that splashes on the underside of the manifold will Coke from the heat and foul your oil.
The purpose of the crossover is to heat the carb rapidly in cold weather, but it has little effect on operation.
You got it. I took off the intake and valley pan and yes there was the metal clip. Now I need to find a cheap 4barel intake so I dont have to clean up the old 60lb 2barel intake.
Thanks Guys.
