During my installation of DRL lights, I discovered a unused round connector under the dash. The connector was strapped to the lower metal bar.
I searched my Haynes wiring diagrams in an attempt to discover the use of this connector. No luck!
There are 4 wires going to the connector, plus one extra that is shrink wrapped off. Colors are:
Pink/Lt. Blue
Tan/Orange
Black
Red/Yellow

Go to the attached link and that is probably what you are looking at.
For spinella
No it isn't behind the radio. I have installed a tralier brake controller and successfully found that connector. This one is left of where the brake connector is located. Thanks for you feedback.
For ghb2
I looked at the link. I'm not sure if we are looking at the same connector - however, it could be. In the link photo, the connector seems to be a bit closer to the floorboard than in my truck. Thanks for your feedback.
it was a box you could get from ford it allows you to idle up when you are running heavy electrical loads our idling for long periods of time they have them on our brush trucks for all the lights and stuff

The connector in the picture was removed from the cross bar and lowered for a better picture. If it is the same connector there should be a tag on the wiring harness for customer connection or something like that. I just installed my gauges and the wire colors you described are the same as on my connector. I used the pink/lt. blue for switched 12 volts for the pyrometer and transmission temp gauges.
Thanks again for the infomation. There wasn't a tag on mine. Also, there is another connector attached near the stearing column - it has, what I think, a dummy plug installed. The plug is rectangular (2.5 inches by 05. inches) I'm thinking about additional gauges myself. Which set did you get?
I got the 3 gauge kit, Pillar mount from Diesel Manor, DieselManor - Taking the Mystery out of Diesel Performance™. This has the ISSPRO EV Pyrometer, Boost and Transmission Temp gauges. Great gauges, nice look and was easy to prep and install. They are great people to work with and if you order from them be sure to give them your VIN number so they can get you the correct color of your dash.
