Idle mixture screws

Just finished a rebild kit on a 4 bbl stock Holley from my '84 f150 with 351W, carb model 4180C. The idle mixture screw on each barrel were all set different, one was all the way in (closed). I took them out and replaced the o-rings. My old shop manual for '84 cars says to consult the emmisions manual for settings, but I don't have one of those. As it stands, I have them all screwed in until the point of the needle is just flush with the barrel surface, kinada open and kinda closed type thing. I plan on installing this weekend, if its not too cold, and was wondering if anybody had a "rule of thumb" type setting I should try to start with. Thanks in advance,
tom

1 3/4 to 2 turns out should be enough to make it run. Warm it up and then with the idle speed set to spec, adjust them for the highest idle speed. Then reset the idle to spec after your done.

Thanks for the advice, I'll probably do it today and let you know how it goes.
