I was wondering what the typical price for having your heads completely rebuilt with a 3 angle valve job was? I know that there will be a difference from area to area and, mostly, shop to shop, I'm just trying to get an idea what an average cost would be. Also, has anyone used the Edelbrock 351C heads? I was trying to figure out if it would be better to spend money on rebuilding my old heads or going for the new Edelbrock heads and knowing that they were built right and all I had to get was the rockers and rods and mounting hardware.
Also what is the maximum a 351C can bored out? I have read that they were good for only about .030 over, but they were older books.
I just did this on my heads and its about everything you can do if you´re keeping your stock rockers and normal springs:
install cast iron valve guides $100
3 angle valve job $145
surface heads $95
heads assembly $50 (i assembled them myself but I asked anyways)
Yes a 351 can only be bored 30, well you can go 60 over but its not recomended due cyllinder wall thicknes.
also what are you using your engine for? if its street use, for some more you can get aussie heads with closed combustion chambers and bigger valves....
That's not too bad. I am assuming that is for both heads?
Other than the occasional trip down the track to see what it can do, it will be mainly street driven. I have seen aussie heads discussed before, but never have looked into them. Is there a website I can get info?
