hey guys im planning on putting a 4in suspension lift on my 1992 ford F-150 4x4 flareside 5.0.
would 35/12.50/15's fit and have full travel? a little rub wouldnt bother me and i could do some mod work to make it fit, but if it absolutely won't fit then i guess its not worth it.
I have been running 35/12.50/15s since 96 and no rubs unless I have the wheel turned fairly hard and hit a curb (like turning in an entrance where there is a curb & gutter) at a fairly good speed. Don't get me wrong, you don't have a lot of clearance but unless you are doing a lot of hot ******* and off roading you should be fine. I take mine of road a good bit, mostly during hunting season but I take it easier on it now that it's getting up there in age. Mine will rub the radius arms if cut all the way but I've gotten used to not cranking on the wheel until you hear the power steering pump whine. I have a 4 inch superlift.
Can see in my gallery (although that picture was taken before the paint started exiting from the primer).
I wouldn't think that your truck would be any different although it's newer.
After reading your post I realized you said "full travel". I didn't want to mis-lead you since you won't have full travel like stock. Like I said you should have plenty for it to clear and not rub even with no mods -after the lift is installed- for average driving. If you plan to rock crawl or do a lot of heavy off roading you may want to drop back to 33s.
The superlift replacement coil springs in the front are pretty stiff so that probably helps too.
I haven't had any problems at all with mine but I have made them rub on the trim piece on occasion-but not very much and certainly not enough to hurt. Just search for others on here with 4 inch suspension lifts and see what they say as well.
well my 95 has no lift... and rubs a little bit... but i have 33"s so with a 4 inch lift you should be good... i will sugest getting 4 for the front and 6 for the rear... to eliminate the factory lift block...
Good idea to change the gears... what trans do you have?
