I was wondering if there is a way to get my 95 psd to idle faster? It idles at 500 - 550 rpm's. I would rather it idle around 600 - 650 rpm's. can this be done? Or is this normal? I have 155,000 miles on it. maybe the throttle position sensor can be adjusted? What do you guys think?
thanks for all the help
tony
Thanks For The Reply Diesel Rod. I Have This Slight Romp Romp Romp When I Start The Engine, If It Cold Out Side It Will Romp Hard Enough To Kill The Engine Several Time. I Have Started The Engine With My Foot On The Throttle And Raise The Rpm's To Appr. 600-650 And The Romp Is Gone. I Have Held The Throttle There As Long As Two Minutes And When I Idle Back Down The Romp Is Back For About 15-20 Seconds And The Idle Is Around 500-550 Again. I Have Tried Alot Of Different Things Trying To Figure This Out With No Luck!!! I Am Thinking Of Checking The Ipr, Could This Help? I'm In South Dakota And Run A Few Pete's Also. Sounds Real Nice.
Thanks Tony
Hey Tony, I have the exact same problem and symptoms,,,, have check fuel and was fine , changed fuel filter and cleaned screen, tried differant engine oil and still no change............ What and were is the IPR?
I Have Changed The Transmission Range Sensor, Mine Came From Another 95 Psd That Didn't Have This Problem And I Still Have My Romp. I Haven't Adjusted It Yet Though. I Don't Know How Much Difference It Would Make. It Starts In Neutral And The Reverse Lights Work So I Thought It Must Be Set Real Close. I Appreciate Any And All Ideas. I Changed All My Glow Plugs And All My Short Harnesses, But Not The Valve Cover Harness Itself Though. Then I Started The Engine 15 Times With The Covers Off And No Romp, Romp, romp I Was Very Happy. I Put The Covers On And Romp, Romp, Romp. Not Happy. What Can I Do?
The Ipr Is Injector Pressure Regulator, It Is Located In The Fuel Filter Housing. Sombody Else On Here Can Tell You More Or Search For It On Here, It Doesn't Seem To Be To Bad. Usually Needs New O-rings I Think.
Tony, I recently changed all the gp's and valve cover gaskets and the short harness's its still the same low with the romp romp,,, only time it runs with out the romp is early am with a cold motor then all is well until its warm and then its back to the romp romp...
