highboy T-case strut

highboy T-case strut
I've come to notice over time that only highboys with an automatic tranny came factory equipped with a transfer case strut and the highboys with a manual tranny did not, anyone know why this is?

I wonder what the actual production numbers are on that, i'd guess 8 out of 10 highboy's were a manual tranny.
