Glow Plug Replacement Question

I have an '86 6.9 turbocharged...just received the new glowplugs (motorcraft) and wanted to know if it's a clean change out. Someone here said I had to remove the turbo in order to get to the #7 and #8 plugs...is that a fact? Thanks...

7 & 8 may be really taxing on the brain and fingers...... but I have not heard of a requirement to remove the (aftermarket) turbo........ try doing them first. Do you know if the installed ones are good or bad....... what brand are they.

I changed my glo-plugs, in a 91 turbo 7.3L 7 & 8 was pure hell' use a open end wrench --1/8 (?) turn flip wrench 1/8 turn flip wrench... you get the picture.. I would like to try one of those ratchets with the hole that a stud will slide thru. it can be done it just takes time

I can access all my glow plugs fairly easily with a 1/4" drive ratchet and 10mm deep socket (a 10mm open end does come in handy though). I have a none wastegated turbo (ATS 088) that sits strait across the rear of the engine, seems intentional to keep the engine bay as clear as possible.

Its not that bad overall. Its not like its a powerstroke or something.
