I went to the darkside after the wufe towed me home 3 times in 2 weeks she said that I had better find a cummins or learn to cook so I got a nice 97 2500.
You kept your old truck didn't you?
No law says you can't have both, well maybe some crazy "wife law."
Did you get a 4wd,Ext. cab,auto or 5-spd.?
If you need any help send me a message.
Don't go over to the "Powerstroke" side and tell them this they'll burn you at the stake!
I'm doing the oposite of you, I have a Cummins and I'm getting an IDI too.
My 90 is for sale since I just bought a 97 dodge 2500 with 144k on her. The head cook is now much happier since she can get the seat far enough forward to reach the pedals in this where she couldn't in the ford.
I told you.
Powerstroke guys are gonna hate your guts!
There's no room for a Dodge in "Powerstroke Land"
I think you'll find the truck doesn't fall apart around the motor, the Fords have some advantages and the Dodges have some too. I still haven't found a perfect truck but I've had a few GM trucks and since '73 I haven't seen anything better about them except maybe the newer fuel injected truck's gas mileage.
I have a "rough" '90 also, an F-350 SRW 4wd CrewCab and even though it's a gasser it still keeps plugging along.

Got a 97 2500 CC LB 4x4 3.54 auto 215 nozzels 4' turbo back
One thing I'll say without turning this into a Cummins discussion: Use Fleetgaurd (just as good and cheaper, esp. by the case) or Mopar oil filters. When these trucks first hit the market every aftermarket oil filter company decided to get in on the game and the Cummins oiling system was gutting the filters and plugging up the oil passages---not good!
Yet another reason to use best quality filters in all motors/engines.
By the way, your right, I'm wrong, it's a ClubCab not an extended cab.
Sounds like somebody upgraded it to the manual trans. output specs for that year as they were 215/460.

My wifes friend has a ford "stroke" with a cummins engine in it, she calls it her "FODGE"

Welcome to the site! Not that I'm some kind of official greeter or anything, I'm just another guy on here like you. These IDI guys are awesome, they'll help you out a TON! I think I've found the truck I'm gonna get ('94 IDI turbo) and I couldn't have made as good of a decision w/o these guys help!
I've found some ,BUT NOT ALL, of the Powerstroke guys have some kind of superiority complex. I've noticed the same coincidence with the 24V Cummins guys somewhat too. I guess they just don't know that mechanical diesels are COOLER!
When the '99 SuperDuty came out I started calling them FOdges too, there was just too much obvious styling rip-offs, right down to the honeycomb inserts in the grill. Ford did make some improvements though like ROUNDED fenderwells. Tires are round and so should be fenderwells, not those high-arched things Dodge uses. Dodge didn't offer a CrewCab until '03 and even then it was kinda' small. Then the MegaCab came out and it's too big, why can't they offer one that's "just right" like the S.D.? And Ford and GM had the '70s-'80s truck styling 4 yers before Dodge did, then they copied it. You can find syling/engineering rip-offs everywhere though so I guess there's no point in wasting time on it.
I do concede to you that a Cummins in a Ford might be more of a PHodge, but it's just a motor and you can/could get a Cummins in the F-450s and up so it's not as much a PHodge as it appears to be.

No offense here! My Cummins is a '91.5 but the '94-'98.5 are definitely the BEST of the bunch! The Bosch P7100 kicks.....um....but!
