99 starting problem -

When I turn the key the starter begins to crank and all the sudden stops for a split second then resumes cranking again. It reminds me of when the timing is off and you try to start the engine and two cylinders are firing at the same time. <o></o>

Typically, I have had starters fail completely but this weakened condition has me a bit baffled. Has anyone else experienced this type of starter failure? <o></o>

The vehicle has 150,000 miles on the original starter so I am planning on replacing. The battery is about 2 winters old. <o></o>
