I have a little less than $20K in our 60, not including the time, tools and frosties they don't count!
Hours of garage time with my teenage son who didn't know which end of the screwdriver went in the slot before we started and now fixes all his buddies cars..........PRICELESS!
You have brought up a point close to my heart here. I know it has nothing to do with the topic, Do It Cheap. Maybe we ought to start a thread for it and call it Do It Right. My son is 38 now and he is as into the old trucks as much as I am. He too has a 53 F-100 he is working on. Although he now lives 600 miles away we are still very close and talk every day. I can't help but think our relationship would be at best estranged if it weren't for the many hours and days we spent together in the garage for many years. Although my son is not a mechanic by trade, (he fixes copier machines for a living), he does do all his own work on his trucks and cars. He can weld and do body work.
I am not wealthy or well known and I seriously doubt I'll be remembered for anything unique after I am gone. In short, I will only have one legacy. That legacy is the things I have passed on to my son. I guess the best part for me is that we are more than just father and son, we are buddies. I can't help but think that if more parents took the time to do things like this with their children we would live in a much better world. I think you got it right when you said it was PRICELESS.
