Wiring Harness/firewall

Can Anyone Help Me... My Truck Was A Smoke Filled Mess Today... My Wiring Harness Was Cooked Along With All The Wires That Run Through The Firewall... Would Anyone Be Able To Run Me A List Of Wires I Will Need Ti Replace To Get This Thing Moving... Not Many Made It Through The Melt Down So All Posible Wires That Run Through The Firewall Would Be Helpful... Thanks

There are Way too many wires to list.

The only safe alternative is to have the truck towed home, and get another harness out of another truck. Use the same year model or newer, up to 1986 to get the most compatible harnesses. Also be sure to get a main harness that matches your instrument cluster. Main harness for gauges, or main harness for idiot lights. If your truck only has idiot lights, it would be the perfect time to upgrade the harness, and cluster.

It's not all that hard, just time consuming.

Find a good wiring diagram is also a must for this project.

good luck.

I have the 86 EVTM and can scan some pages as needed. Somewhere I have the actual wiring diagrams for the 86 F series and Bronco. I am getting ready to, with a friend scrap a 1985 Bronco.

Like someone else said, just go get another donor harness and replace the whole thing.

It's not really THAT hard, but it is a bit time consuming. Remove the dash pad to gain access from the top. There are only about 10 screws that hold it on. If you need help, I can tell you exactly what to do.

I just changed my entire cab and complete interior and while I was at it, I replaced all of the wiring and went from Blue to Fawn interior.

Ford actually made it pretty easy. There is almost no way to mess it up. Things only plug in one way and it's pretty self explanatory where everything goes.

One thing that you do need to watch out for (I found this out the hard way and scratched my head for days trying to figure it out) is the heater fan switch and the fuel selector switch are the same plugs (but different color: one is white the other is gray) and you CAN mix them up.

That would be the only way IMO to care of someone else's hack job and a melt down like you experienced.
