I use 2 stoke in my fuel and she said nothing. We only used our aux tank when doing road trips. Now that the rubber hoses are crap from the AZ sun we (I) need to replace those before we do 2k miles in 4 days next month.
My hose is still good after having the tank in for 5 years. Like you, I will go to the local station and fill up in the morning, then make a trip and fill at the same station the next afternoon. The people at the counter wonder what the heck I do with all that Diesel. 95 gal in transfer tank, and 38 in truck.
I have been stopped twice in the past month for no mud flaps......couldn't believe they never dipped my tank! I have nothing to hide.....but I thought they would've at least checked! They were more concerned with the gun in the truck
I've been seeing alot of dot check points aswell. Don't know if the are dipping tanks, but the next one i see i'll holler over the cb and find out. Somebody told me if you don't have a bussiness sign on your truck they won't dip your tanks. The way i see it, your on federal, state highways and so on, the feds, state can do what they want. Unconstitutional, some may say yes, some may say no.
Think grocery getter Cris knew what a can of worms she was opening with starting this thread?
No, but I think she's probably the only one of us smart enough to actually pull over after seeing that sign for the first time (commercial drivers excluded)
On my airplane, when I put the wrong fuel in (100LL) the entire tank goes clear from that happy red color 80-87 uses. anybody know what happens to diesel red when you add a gallon of 100 LL?
I just wanted to let people know, glad to open a can of worms. You can never have too many cans open at one time.
Travis- we have been stopped twice for that also, got a warning both times. I got the second warning and played dumb. "what are you talking about officer, bat eyelashes, I had no idea i need flaps on this big truck, bat eyelashes some more. The second time we finally put flaps on. $40 flaps better than $600 ticket.
Here in AZ they say you have to have flaps if your tires stick out wider than your truck. My hubby has a lifted blazer and he doesnt need them. Its a truck think i guess.
Here in a rural area of the Peoples Socialist State of Maryland where I live, there are several gas stations that sell "off road" diesel for farm tractors, etc.
I have a friend who was stopped by the commercial vehicle unit of the state police. He objected to a fuel tank check, demanding to see a warrant. He claims they can only check DOT registerd commercial trucks, not private pick-ups. Don't know if his is slinging the bull or not.
I wonder what they would say about the veg. oil i'm using in my 01 f250?? I'd tell them to KMA!!!! American ingenuity HAS to to the forefront with the price of diesel these days. My local Agway sells off road right aside of on road for 65 cents a gallon less. I know lots of guys who use it in thier diesels, but not me, of course!!! Jeff

So what were the results of this? I also want an answer about that aviation fuel mistake.
