catalytic convertor

I am considering installing aftermarket heads on my 1989 F150 302. The heads I am looking at do not have the thermactor holes. If I eliminate the entire air pump system will the catalytic convertor be affected adversely? I was wondering if I should still pump air to the inlet preceding the cat. If I don't does the cat tend to plug or not operate properly? I know that probably won't pass emissions. Also I've seen alot of talk about rerouting the pcv hose to the vacuum tree in the middle of the stock EFI upper intake to eliminate possible negative effects on #8 cylinder. Also some guys are installing a homemade filter to trap contaminants that would enter #8 intake runner from this system. Could the PCV line just be vented to the outside like the older engines did? Again I know recirculation is for emissions. Just wondering what to do to protect my expensive overhaul.

Thanks
Randy

I don't think it will affect the Cat. My pump is frozen and disconnected, and doesn't hurt my 86' f-150 4x4 at all. at least not that i know of IF this is a bad thing, tell me adn i'll replace the pump. but it seems to run fine.

The pcv valve system is a good thing. Keep it on there. It pulls out moisture and fuel vapors that collect in the engine, leaving the engine and the oil much cleaner.

I got the intake off of a 96 F150 at home and there the pcv hose was routed to the center of the manifold. So I guess it should be fine, if Ford does it...
