i have a 2000 f350 with 35"x 12.50x 16.50(bought the truck with them on)i want to put it back to stock.does anybody know what the biggest stock size available was?my truck came with 265/75/16.were 17's an option.i want to use a factory rim.thanks -ed
From what I can dig up, your truck came stock with 265/75-16 Load Rating E tires. I can't find any direct info on optional sizes (maybe someone else has it?) but there may have been options for 275/65-18 and 275/65-20 tires.
i want to switch back because i tow a 36' travel trailer and my truck has 3:73 gears and i think something close to stock height will be better.plus the big sidewalls tend to bounce while towing.i love the way it looks.it fits the truck perfect, but with the price of fuel i think less drag from the wide tires and the shorter tire will do me some good.i know it came with 265/75/16 i just want to see if 285/75/16 would be alright.i can get the factory rims fairly cheap.
yes it does say on the door.i know my truck came with 265/75/16's i was just wanted to know for the 2000 year was there an optioned larger tire and if so what was it?i think 99-04 was the same.like i said in my previous post i can get 4 really nice factory rims at the right price, and i just want to put a good tire on it.thanks -ed-
Ed, i talked to alot of guys on this issue because i got the stock rims on mine(16s) 265-75-r16. I want to upgrade my size as well, without changing the rims. I think i,m going with a 285-75-16 e rated. Alot of the tires when you get above 295 and so on its hard to find e rated tires. I tow to and im going no higher than the 285s E rated.

i'm pretty sure i'm going that route(285/75/16)my truck is a 1ton with a v10(lighter than diesel) wit either a snow plow prep or a leveling kit.so i'm worried about the front having too much space between the tire and wheel well.any ideas on which tire.i'd like 10 ply e rated.thanks -ed-

The best place to find out about tires is tirerack.com. I have to tell you, if you want a great tire, go with the bridgestones AT REVOS. They are expensive but i got them on my truck(no dually) and i got almost 70,000 on them, very satisfied. But go on there and check it out, very good site. I order my tires from there. Good luck.
