trans ?

have an 01 f150 7700gvw. been think about putting a manual in for a long time and might have the time to do it this summer. anyone know what 5 spd manual i can make fit behind the 5.4L in that truck? i don't think it was an option except in the super duties with the 5.4. i figured i may ditch the transfer case and front axle in the process also. i've also been wanting to swap out the torsion bars for something lighter. i've heard the bars off of the super crews have a decreased spring rate compared to the 7700 bars. if i end up without the front axle in, there may be room to mount coil overs and just put impact struts in place of the t-bars. any thoughts???
thanks guys

You'd be much better off trading it in for a truck you like. Do you realize the ammount of work it will take to put a SD tranny behind the 5.4 in your F150? You will need to fab your own crossmember for it...and that is IF it will fit in the tunnel, as it is very large. You will need to modify the cab/firewall to accept the pedal assembly, and make your own linkages. You'll then have to have a custom driveshaft made.

And I highly doubt you can just take out the front axle. What's going to seal up the large hole in the spindle once you remove the CV shafts? Not to mention lots of other problems you will run into.
