4L3Z19A706AA .. Blower Motor Resistor (replaces F4ZZ19A706A)
MSRP: $18.78 / ftepartsguy.com price: $13.52.
According to the parts catalog illustration, it's located on the outside of the A/C-heater plenum chamber.
On the 1979 and earlier trucks (which I'm far more familiar with), when the resistor goes bad, nothing works.
(The original blower switch Ford part number (F65Z19986A) has been updated, and I couldn't find the new replacing part number-that's why I didn't post the info)
thank you. do you or anyone know how to get to the switch ?
Sure, from FoMoCo.
Contact FTE sponsor ftepartsguy.com (Parr Ford-Bremerton WA) for assistance.
The blower switch is still available, but the original part number (F65Z-19986-A) has been updated by FoMoCo (like the duly noted "blower resistor" part number was I posted above).
I have no ref for the new switch part number, so contact ftepartsguy.com
ftepartsguy.com gives a discount to FTE members from the actual Ford suggested retail price (MSRP). See post #7 for an example.
Ford updates 1,000's of part numbers a year, keeping up with all the part number changes is a PITA!
Mikieday, any Ford dealer will have parts catalog illustrations of what you're looking for.
I also told you in post #7 where the resistor was located.
got the glove box door off but that is about as far as i got.
looking deeper into it...2 settings are not working on the switch..i am leaning more to the switch on this problem, i would think if the resistor was bad that maybe (and i dont know) nothing would work...but maybe the switch just faild in two spots..
i dread tearing the dash apart i have never even had the radio out of this thing in 200k miles
Normally when the resistor board fails you just have high blower. This is a common problem in most vehicles, all makes. Like the other post said, contact FTEpartsguy. I have gotten parts from him, very fair and fast shipping.
is there a way to test the resistor ? to make sure it is bad, they are not real expensive but i dont want to get something that i dont need..but it is alot less money then a switch...
I would be more suspicious of the BMR than the switch. There are four terminals on the BMR and three resistors on the board. You will need an ohmmeter to check it out. Each of the resistors can be check individually as follows. Pin 1 to pin 2 is 1.38 ohms. Pin 1 to pin 4 is 0.62 ohms. Pin 3 to pin 4 is 0.33 ohms. Good luck!
