The entire unit is replaced. Here's a pic of my old one. Both the light and dimmer switch are integrated together.
I want to get the interior light defeat function to work. You see, our Excursions don't have the ability built in in the switch whereas the Expeditions do.
However, what I've found is that it is not all about the switch. There is a wire "missing" from the truck as I've noticed that one pin on the switch doesn't have a corresponding wire in the plug coming from the truck.
It is that "missing" wire that I need to find out what it does and where it comes from on the Expedition to see if I can wire it up on the Excursion.
Okay, that cleared it up. I do understand that the Excursion does not have the function to defeat the lights, I just didn't realize that you have to replace the entire assembly, like I said before, I thought you could replace just the dimmer switch. Oh yeah, the picture din't come out on your post.
Thanks for clearing it up for me.
car off, key out, nothing on, everything closed but the glass hatch, no one in the car, no one near the car, dvd off, lights off, etc. etc. etc..........
I would like to do the same thing with mine, I have heard a relay up under the dash come on when the lights are turned on, I am thinking all I should have to do get into the circuit that turns on the relay and put a switch in series with it, my problem is I can't find the relay, I can hear it but have not located it, anybody know where the relay is?
Thanks
Jeff
