Ive had my edge since december of 05. I've updated once in that time frame and everything has been ok for the most part. I recently had tranny problems but that is now fixed. I'm also out of warrenty if that matters any.
3 problems ive noticed since ive had it, in order of least to most importance.
1.(last year) Edge will sometimes stay on when I turn truck off. Or when I turn it on at times it stays stuck on the splash screen or a blank screen. Sometimes it also shows my hex code and I have to push enter.
2. (always) On level 2 or 3 between 60-70mph it seems the TC lock/unlocks???? enough for you to notice an ever so slight thud.
3. (today) After fixing my tranny I had it in stock cal. so I decided to put it back to level 2. Programing went well and I was off. Judging by shifts, pedal responce and my ability to hit 105mph it sure felt like lvl 2 but later I realized something. Once I left the house again I looked at the edge and noticed on the top right that the lvl indicator was at "0" and not at "2" as it was supposed to. While I want to think the calibration did not work...it really did. I know its currently on lvl 2 but edge says its not. It will alow me to reprogram my truck to any level I want. I remember on the screen where you would select your programming it would tell you what you currently have. It shows that I have no power programming.
What do you guys suggest I do. I'm sure i'm out of warrenty with edge.??
It appears that I did lose my stock calibration.
Even though i'm out of warrenty I would like to have it. you never know.
I'll try to reply when I can, I'm currently on 7-12's.
You have several options. Ford can reflash it to as built, you can live without the stock tune, or you might be able to get the stock tune and upload it to the evolution.
I think your ok without the stock as long as the edge tuner will say it's stock (incase you decide to let ford recalibrate or you send the evolution back to edge.) You might want to try setting it to stock and unplugging it just to see what happens.
Well I really cannot put it back to stock because the edge thinks there is currently no power programming. I know its on lvl 2 but edge thinks its a "0"
My feeling is, if I reprogram again that the edge will take the lvl 2 and make it my saved stock calibration since it belives there is no programing at the moment and I am 100% positive it has lvl 2 on right now.
thanks!
PS....At one point I had my stock saved but I had a hard drive crash and I forgot to re-due it.
The good news is, there might be only a couple of parameters the tuner reads and recalibrates from the saved tune. Most of the parameters are built into levels, I don't believe they add modifiers to the stock programming. You might want to contact edge to confirm this though.
thanks! I just got home from work and it'll be 3 weeks before I return to my normal 4/10s. I'll call edge then.
How about this one....
1.(last year) Edge will sometimes stay on when I turn truck off. Or when I turn it on at times it stays stuck on the splash screen or a blank screen. Sometimes it also shows my hex code and I have to push enter.
Does the edge have a user replaceable battery? Its doing this alot lately.
I don't think so, it should take all it's power from the OBD2 port. However, edge used to be cheap and use unshielded wire. Make sure your wire bundle is clear from any other wiring, and turn you cell phone off. We had a few issues of nextels cross talking over the data wire and screwing up the display.
So the obd2 cable is unshielded? that could be causing the interfierence. I'll have to research and buy a shielded one. I also had the thought of maybe it was battery related. When the edge was on already and I turned on the truck the screen would blink and half the time it would start up regularly and the other half it would lock up.
