On some mercedes trucks ATF is used instead of DOT-3. Mix of ATF and DOT-3 kills seals, but if system was flushed use of DOT-3 caused no problems. Try to flush if you see no leaks.
we just changed clutch master and after two days of no luck bleeding the haynes way, we read post here, duh, one try ,10 minutes and we were done!
take circlip off back of cylinder (yea its a mess) break fluid fills, open bleed drain on master so you can compress, close drain, install circlip ,cleanup and you are done. i swear this took longer to type than the job,and info came from this forum . THANKYOU!
"its the master that has the air not the slave in all liklihood."
Hank, I just had clutch and slave cylinder replaced. what if problem is air trapped in quickconnect? (see Chilton Manual)
I dont understand trapped in the QD. air will travel up to master and unless the QD is bad it should not be that much to begin with. what exactly does the chilton say he problem is?
Chilton 7-6: "It is recommended that the original clutch tube with quick connect be replaced when servicing the hydraulic system because air can be trapped in the quick connect and prevent complete bleeding of the system."

aga, there are some cars/trucks whis air in system impossible to make go away. Clutch pedal is soft a bit and when you depress clutch pedal several times all is good, but next morning you find clutch pedal soft again. Bleeding does not help
has you problem improved yet? air should rise to the top and you can get it out. I have changed several of these slaves and masters and never had a problem just dont know what to tell ya. What do they recommend you change it to or is it just change the line as the connector will still be on the slave. I would maybe take it loose and reengage it to make sure there is a positive lock. I dont know for sure but someone posted that the line is a dealer item and fairly expensive! I had to replace a brake line on my big truck (F350) because I knicked it with an air cutter and it was like $75 for a foot long rubber hose and brass connector!
