steering column wiring

I just installed a flaming river column and am having problems with getting it wired. Today I took the old turn signal switch out of the original column and pluged it in and everything works as normal. I don't know if the new column needs a power supply or what. Any help and or a diagram would help.

Thanks

Are you dealing with the original wiring or an aftermarket kit? Most aftermarket kits give you the plug connector that interfaces with the GM wiring used on the Flaming River columns and tell you which wire to connect to which terminal slot. Give us more info on what you are dealing with as far as the existing wiring you are trying to connect with.

I used a Flaming river column and EZ wiring harness. EZ wire gives you two plugs. You use the one that matches the plug on the column. You then follow the EZ wire instructions that tell you where each wire goes in the plug, I had no problem at all.

To answer some questions, I have a 55 f100 and the wiring is still stock. I have converted to 12 volt. I did purchase the plug connector from mif fiftys but had to do a lot of modifing to fit. I think the main problem I have is one wire has voltage on when the brake is applied. That stands to reason, but the wire from the flasher also has voltage. my test light is a lot brighter on the brake light wire than the flasher wire. Guess I need to check the voltage as i still have my winsheld wipers on 6 volt.
