78 302

:-X11 Well here is my whole story. I already have made a couple of post and they have been some help so thanks to everyone. Anyway I purchased a 78 F100. 302 motor 2bl. C4 tranny 2wd. This truck set for about 9 or 10 yrs without being driven. I am the 3rd owner. The fellow I purchased it from drove it maybe 10miles a day max. I have a couple of mech. questions though. First of all I have changed plugs, wires, dis. cap and rotor button(haven't done the points not really sure how yet). Changed fuel filter, air filter, pvc valve, and the oilsending unit. Also changed valve cover gaskets. The oil gauge on the truck was showing very low oil pressure but changing the sending unit seemed to fix that. As far as my other problems, here they are. I see water on the dipstick when I check the oil and on the bottom if the filler cap. I know this could be condensation or a head gasket but I haven't really noticed a coolant level drop and the truck does not run hot. I have changed the oil twice in about 2 months and dont really seem to see any water in the oil when I change it. There was some white milky looking substance under the valve covers when I changed them. Also there is allot of blowback pressure. Sometimes it blows oil out from under the filler cap it has so much. Some mornings when I am driving it gets jerky until I get up to about 45mph or so like it is starving for gas or maybe choking itself out. It does not do this all the time though There has also been some oil in the breather filter but I think that is from the blowback also. Well one more thing to add. This truck has 53000 original miles on it(no kidding). I have ran motor flush thru it twice to see if maybe that would remove some of the white stuff to no avail. Could it just be condensation from sitting so long and not being driven that much and would removing the oil pan and cleaning it out do any good? If any ideas on what is causing the morning jerks please let me know cause I am without a clue. One more fellas. If I run a compression test is there a danger of completely blowing out the head gasket if that is what is wrong. This is my toy but also my daily driver. Hard to be without it if you know what I mean. I drive it about 25 miles a day back and forth to work. Well I am probably forgetting something but that is all I can think of now. Thanks in advance for all the help guys.

Thanks cooksey

you have a ventilation problem, there is no reason why driving it for 15 minutes and then changing the oil shouldn't purge all the water out of the motor. Water dissapears very quickly when it has good oil, a clean filter, and proper PCV system. Pulling the oil pan off will cause enough stress to make you quit, don't do it, it certainly won't do any good. I learned this the hard way, trying to fix a leaky gasket. I'd wait for someone like Franklin to come advise you on the cold morning thing, but be warned, it's hard to troubleshoot anything without a test drive.

my '78 302 has the breakerless ignition system, no points. I dont know when they started putting these on, but you may not have points.
