I picked up a new MOOG tierod end at the local parts houst to replace the one that connects to the pitman arm. The original is worn, it clunks back and forth when you shake it and I suspect it is the cause of irregular tire wear since it is the only part of the steering gear that does not appear to be in spec.
The MOOG part doesn't have a zerk on it. There is a hole in the bottom and grease is visable, but no zerk. Is this a flaw or is MOOG making them without grease fittings? Is it worth it to get an OEM one with a fitting? It is not too bad yet, and I only drive 8 miles a day right now so waiting a week to get one from FTEpartsguy would not be an issue.
What's your call, is it a bad part, good to go, or hold out for OEM?
You need to buy a zerk fitting because the tie rod should have come with it. Mine came with a bag. In the bag was a nut, zerk, cotter pin, and rubber boot.
Ok, it might be hiding in the plastic bag. I saw the nut, pin, and boot. I bet i missed it because I didn't ever think i'd find the zerk in a bag. Thanks
