hi, need some help, 02 150 battery light on , new bat. , lights go
dim step on brakes light go's out ,headlight's briten, volt/amp metter
on dash dosen't change, first time this happend tested with load tester,
replaced bat. about 3 weeks ago, thinking bad alt. any idea's

You have a bad alternator.It will completely quit in just a short while.The reason it is acting like this is because it has blown a diode inside the alternator.With only one blown the alt is still charging a little so your voltage will show around 14 Volts.Try starting truck up and turn everything on and let it run a few minutes.Then check voltage.Probably the longer it runs the lower the voltage will get.
ALSO DO NOT PULL BATTERY CABLE OFF WHILE ENGINE IS RUNNING.I hear customers telling me this is the way they check their alternator.This method was ok 25 years ago on dads old buick.BUT NOT WITH TODAYS MODELS.you can destroy more in a few seconds than you can afford to replace.
