My heart is broken! Every, day Monday thru Friday, I drive past a junk car buyers lot. He does have some junkers out there and sometimes he has some nice rides. Not too long go he had a 73 -75 long bed setting out front. It was a nice truck. All the panels were straight, no rust, excellent grille, nice chrome, factory rims, bumper guards. It may have been a Lariat. It was someone's baby at one time. The only thing wrong with it was that it had set outside under a tree for a long time and the sap had collected on the paint. Before it went bye-bye, someone snagged the bumper. This buyer is paying $300+ for a junker. I know they go directly to a shredder, tires and all. Nothing salvaged after they leave! As of 4-11, he had a 79 out back. The body is junk, but it has a near excellent grille and shell. I guess I'll have to start going another way so I don't see the misery. This must be the side effect of loving old Ford trucks.
Unfortunately that is the current trend in my neck 'O the woods too. I don't have the misfortune of driving by a scrap yard every day, but I see at least one trailer load a day go past the store on its way to the shredder. I see a lot of old stuff going bye bye. Makes me cringe...
Yea, that does put a hinder on it
but still I cant help myself and I have to inquire on
stuff when I see it weather I can buy it or not??
its a true addiction
It's becoming harder to find older trucks for parts around here, and the few that are left have been picked over or are complete junk. I've been trying to find a couple old parts trucks but not having much luck. Even have a spot out back cleared to put them so the wife can't see them, I call them treasures--- she calls them eyesores.
And no your not in need of therapy, they guy crushing them is though.
thats awful, its a shame alot of people cant appreciate the simple things in life, like us here at (FTE) they might as well be throwing gold away!sorry man
I was at a local junkyard the other day and noticed a 79 Bronco XLT that was new since I've been there a few months ago. First thought was....WOW that looks in pretty good shape. Of course being up here it had it's rust and some bondo work, but not bad. Interior looked really nice except that all of the rotors, hubs, brakes, radiator, shroud and all sorts of other stuff was thrown in the back. Oh and the back window glass was down so now all the rain and moisture was able to get in. Heck the bucket seats in it looked really nice at first glance. It really could have been a nice project. But now it sits stuck down in the mud just deteriorating away. Kind of sad.
My Wife and Daughter are actually liking the truck
you can see the wife swell up with pride when someone makes a good comment on the truck
and my daughter wants it when she gets older, she's 8 now
only time will tell on that one
That's one of the things I like about old trucks. They get passed down/on to someone that appreciates them. Either family or friend and the truck holds special memories of the previous owner. rsalter66..get your daughter and wife involved in the fixin' up process and that truck should stay in the family for a long time.
