My friend's dad had one in the early 1970's that was a retired Air Force truck. It had stencils and decals all over, including one on the dash that warned "Avoid sudden braking over 45 mph".
I've always been a fan of the "forward control" COE pickups, especially ****** and Corvair, but also Ford, Chev/GMC and Dodge. I'd hate to get front-ended in one, but except for that they are very cool! I'll just throw this pic in for grins, saw it on eBay. I' liked that the Dodges had the Slant Six, a better engine IMO than the 170/200 sixes Ford used. Unfortunately, all brands seem to be rust-prone in fairly critical areas...

My friend didn't consider that decal as a warning, but as a challenge. One wheelstand on the front wheels scared the cr@p out of him, and he never tried it again.
My dad had an Econoline pickup later on. In the winter, you could spin cookies in a circle around the front wheels. And I always had to remember to take corners wide, or I'd clip the curb with the rear tire.
The Econoline pickup was probably one of the first vehicles to be subject to a factory recall. The dealers were instructed to bolt a large steel plate under the bed to prevent the "front wheelie." I don't recall how much it weighed but it was substantial. -- Chuck
I've never managed to stand mine on the frt. wheels, but then again it has the iron plate up above the fuel tank, o'coarse dunnoo how you'd ever get those ol' drum brakes to stop that hard anyways. Been drivin' mine since 93 & have put around 50,000 mile on it, pretty much stock except fo rthe apple green paint the ranger aluminium modular wheels and 250 cyl head stuck on toppa the original 170......best mod yet loads of advantages. hve only put 5 miles on it yet this year, last weekend after gettin it outta storage, was lookin fwd. to drivin' it this weeknd but had freezin rain lastnite and the blasted salt trucks were out...now gotta wait til' a couple heavy rains to wash all that crap away.

Anyone
Know of where one maybe around the North Tx area?
Thanks
There was one for sale in the swap meet at the roundup in Austin last weekend. Don't know if it sold or not. As I remember, the price was reasonable. Ask over on the HAMB. Maybe someone will know who it was.
