I been checking trucks out on E bay to kill time and came upon this one, I must say its real nice looking, even the engine bay which brings the question what do people use to get the engines to look so nice and shiny?
Whenever you replace an engine part, take the time to paint it if applicable. Water Pumps for instance.
If you are starting from scratch, remove all of the external components as practical, so you can paint the engine with a quality engine paint. Mask everything not to be painted that wasn't practical to remove etc, decals etc...
After the engine is detailed the way you want it, after the paint hardens say in a few months, periodicly pressure wash the engine, and give it a coat of wax at the local car wash. Take a plastic bag to protect the distributor and electrical components from water.
A clean engine runs better as well, as a rule.
Beware of people playing tricks though. WD-40 and armor all sprayed in the engine bay, and on the paint outside will make it look nice for awhile, but is a big no-no, and a nasty trick some people play on others. When buying a new used truck, always look at the bottom of the engine compartment oil pan etc, for signs where the pressure washer didn't reach.
