I just had my coolant changed from green to gold. I went gold as I could not find any reasonably priced concentrated ELC nearby and doubted the mechanics would be able to get anywhere near a 50-50 mix of antifreeze using prediluted as they wouldn’t open the block drains, etc. It turns out they only got a little over 3 gallons concentrate into the 8.2 gallon system.
If you are looking to go ELC and can drain out enough water to get a 50% mix of coolant and distilled water, go to Walmart and get: Peak Final Charge
It is under $10.00/gallon. Since it is predilluted (50-50), you will need 8 gallons.
Shell Rotella ELC is available in concentrated form. Papadelogan (Brendan) supplied me the following link: - Where to Buy
It was too late for me but I am sure others will use this link. Funny, I called Shell customer service and they never gave the above link. If the had...
Anyway, expect to pay between $25 - $35/gallon for the concentrated stuff. Walmart sells distilled water for .72/gallon.
If you want to stick with gold, Motorcraft or Zerex G-05 are available.
I wound up getting some fleetrite concentrate that is a purple color. Got a buddy who can get discounts on stuff(not five finger though)LOL. Anyways the guy at the truck shop sad thats what pretty much all new stuff is coming with. Hope its gonna be ok!
