How can I tell if my balljoint on my 76 is going bad? My past experience's have been balljoints squeeling. (like a sqweeky bed sound) I have a clickin/ knocking sound when turning on my 76 and my pass side universal is all but shot on the pass side wear the noise is coming from. My question is how can I tell if the balljoint is bad also?
You should check for wear in your tie rod ends as well, and for degraded bushings in the radius arm bushings. Anywhere that you find moving parts. Sometimes having someone in the front seat turning the wheel back and forth while you closely look at steering components can reveal the problem.
