Ok it's not truck related but Ford related, don't know were else to turn. My sister has the '01 taurus that I used to own. Could a bad alternator cause a no crank situation ? Replaced starter with no effect, checked all fuses and relays under the hood, all ok. Anyone have an idea? Thanks.

check connectoins on battery and charge of battery. if that checks out try a new ignition switch? Thats what i would do. maybe someone else can help better! good luck
Probably on the right track. Not familiar with that vehicle, but there usually is an adjustable switch somewhere on the shift linkage. You said that you checked the relays. Were they getting activated? Will it crank if you jump across the relay?
Is there not a starter relay mounted on one of the fender wells? Probably the one closest to the battery. If the battery is charged try jumping the 2 large posts on the relay and see if it turns over. If you want it to start and you are lucky, have the key on when you try this but make sure it is in park first.
