I'm having a bad oil leak at the oil dipstick tube area. This oil dipstick tube simply pulls out. It doesn't seem to have a tight seal at all. I replaced the dipstick tube and again, it only just sits inside the dipstick hole. It doesn't seem to have a tight sealed fit like what I'd expect. I've seen posts where I should check PVC valve and will do that first thing. I will plan to drop the oil pan and replace the gasket and see if anything obvious.
My main question is, is the oil dipstick tube supposed to fit snug? or is there threads in the pan for specific dipstick tube?
I'm open to further advice for my oil leak at dipstick tube.
Try flaring the end of the tube slightly with a punch or similar tool. When you reinstall, apply a bead of red RTV to the shoulder of the tube and tap the tube in with a wood block. Make sure and let the RTV set before running the engine.
Let us know how it turns out.
