What do you guys think about the K-N E-0780 filter kit ? This kit is enclosed like factory, just has a washable filter.

Avoid it and most aftermarket filters -you won't beat the stock one.

And - Welcome!

Wink Try this . . .

You will find through some searching in this and the Super Duty thread that the stock Donaldson filter provides the as much air flow as neded, even for performance upgrades, and that after markets will only hurt your engine. Some dealers also have issue with warrenties if they come into play to.

Look through the threrads and see . . .

Another newbie K&N question?

If you want to spend $$, buy some gauges. If you want to know about something, try searching the forums a little first by clicking the button at the top of the page. You'll get more information that way.

True up until about 500hp. Once your there, your powerband is so far up the rpm range that you might actually have a call to use aftermarket filters as they do flow better when you get up the rpm range. For just stock and even the usual mods(tuner and exhaust) I would stick with the stock one though.

I looked at a lot of options for a long time before I decided on the Quadzilla Commander--Digital is good in my book. Analog gauges are very cool to watch, but I didn't want to lose my grab-handle... I'm not getting any younger, so help getting into the truck is appreciated .

I'm adding a ScanGauge II W/XGauge to get more information on fuel consumption, throttle position, and other economy related monitoring. With fuel at $4.30/Gallon (I filled up this morning), I need all the information that I can get to insure optimum performance at all levels.

My truck had a K&N on it when I bought it. The filter was white, seemed like it hadn't been oiled in awhile, so I gave it a good soaking. Within 2 weeks it was back to white just about, and there's only one place the oil could've gone! Needless to say I bought a stocker off Ebay and trashed the K&N.

i haven't had any problems with my K&N (didn't hang out here when it went on, otherwise i'd have bypassed it), and since i haven't had any problems, nor my dealer with me having it there (even thru a new turbo, likely due to sitting too long w/o being driven). that said, with the info these guys have, i say bypass. keep the stock one.
