Go figure, the paint where the flare contacted the body is worn down to the metal, and the rest of the paint that was covered is in perfect, fresh from the factory condition. It stands out from the reest of the truck, with its correctly faded paint

This is what it looked like with the fender flares on, and my old tires (which do look cooler, but they were 10+ years old).
You can kinda see the difference in the paint.

I'm thinking of just dealing with the tiny tire syndrome and put the flares back on. Thoughts?
same color scheme as mine, thats alright, at least the wheel wells didnt rust except for the chrome trim ring so all you have is the trim ring than 2 inches of nothing than paint, that looks a little tacky

Thought on the 86 that the turn signal problem was fixed then it stopped working again. It is definatly somewhere in the column and driving me nuts. My brother says just rewire the lighting all the way. As of right now we have headlighs, running and brake but sometimes (when going down a backroad they are fine which is probably coincidental) we lose back up and turn and last night for a few minutes we lost running lights hit the steering wheel and the running came back but no back up or turn.

Have you tried replacing the Turn Signal Switch in the steering column? I just had a similar problem with mine. I ended up replacing mine twice. The first one that I got was faulty as well. It seems that Ford runs the brake lights and turn signals through the turn signal switch in the column before they go out back.

I haven't tried that just yet. Thanks Dave. What I do know right before this problem started the truck had the rod in the column get hung up on some wires or something like that and popped it out of the ignition box on the column down below. When it happened there was smoke but it cleared almost immediately I figured it was from sparking. So I fixed the rod problem and the turn signal problem started up then. I don't know if it was right after that or what because I don't use turn signals on the backroads except when guiding people. What you are saying is the brake and turn is ran through there what about reverse everytime this problem happens reverse lights go out but I still have brake and running except that one time last night for a few minutes. I was thinking even maybe the headlight switch but then I though how can that be when it is turn signal and brake not headlights. I don't know for sure I am not use to the old bull nose fords my dad knows more about them then I do I am more into the Duper duties and bricknoses.

Reverse going out too sounds like a grounding issue, like on a trailer. I'm not sure if they share a ground in the units, maybe the bed to frame?

So far I checked all of the grounds on the truck except if there is any in the steering column. I also checked all the wires on the truck and had to have my dad replace one on the truck since it had the epoxy or whatever wore out on it. Which I had a couple electricians and a mechanic buddy check it out and they say that's fine. So It must be in the column I mean if my dad beats the crap out of it enough or these backroads rattle enough they will work until I hit another bump. I am almost positive it is in the steering column being how everything happened I just haven't dropped nor taken apart the steering column to check all of it. I don't know if this is relavent or not but they had KC lights which were removed but the wirring was left in which I took most out of it and a retractable original style under hood light along which I disconnected as it fell apart with aftermarket radio put in and I had to turn the radio off as I believe it caused a battery drain but I am not positive on that I haven't tried turning the radio on but personally I don't think the radio caused a battery drain I think a short in the steering column drained it. I have had autozone look at it and they agree it is probably something in the column but I don't know exactly what all the exposed wires look fine so far.

As far as I can tell I fixed my problem with the instrument illumination and tail lights and what not. I ened up cutting out all of my old splices and re doing it. I also replaced a bunch of fuses with better quality ones and it works. I also got my new Cherry Bomb Pro muffler in. After this weekend if I have enough money I plan to order a new Y pip and cat combo

The only difference is tube diameter. Magnaflow is 2.5" into the cat and 2.25" out. Bassani is 3" in, 3" out.

It's up to him for sound.. I really didn't see a difference in the 3" bassani in sound.. I did the 2.25 dynomax with bullets and its gotta be 3x as loud as the cherry bomb and 3" bassani setup I have on my bronco

Yea that's the set up I was looking at getting. I will be cutting the 2.25 close to the cat and steping it up to 2.5 since that's what size my muffler is at.

I have 2 1/4 on my 88 F150 and we have 2 1/2 on our 86. But on my 88 F150 I want to go to 2 1/2 with dual thrush tubes out the back since I love that sound. I already have no cats on my 88 F150.
Just finished cleaning the inside of my 88 F150 out. Had to also clean the air filter box from wasp nest and I must have accidently left it disconnected last time I was under the hood because it was disconnected. Also put the new fuel tank strap on my front tank.

Finally had some time to get under the front end of Clifford to do some diagnosing. Typical OBS wandering and sloppy steering, and I'm getting kind of tired of it.

The resultant list of things to do: shim steering shaft, replace drag link, replace TTB pivot bushings, remove rivets and install bolts on crossmember, replace steering gear, and weld a patch onto a crack on the passenger's side top frame rail.

Overall, a relatively inexpensive project that'll hopefully help to make it look like I'm NOT hammered when I'm driving to work at 6am.
