I see in your profile you're at JMU. My daughter just started her senior year there. Great school.

Yep, just started my junior year. It's a great place. Tell her best wishes from me, I'm glad I have one more year left before I gotta go to the real world.

In a year you'll feel different. She's ready to be done. And I am ready for her to be done and off my payroll.

Replaced clutch flywheel, pressure plate, rear main seal (since I was there) front brake pads, and packed the front bearings, all in a 22 hour marathon yesterday with a buddy. As normal, everything is a great improvement from before.

Installed new Heater Core... Opened a box of old seat covers that came with the truck. turns out they do not fit my seats... Stared at the Drag Link / Tie Rod issue. Contemplated cranking on that as there seems to be a replacement in the box...

Jason, I'm thinking about doing the same to my truck. Can you answer a few questions for me? Any special tools? What brand parts? Where'd you get the parts? Approximate total cost? Thanks.

Today i replaced the 25 yr old PVC hose from valve to manifold with new line, installed new hose clamps on new vac lines, started her up, did a code read on her and then cleaned out the cab. My new master cylinder brake proportioning pressure regulator control valve (F8UZ-2C161-AA - VALVE ASY) should be in tomorrow so I can finish up my brakes.

I used a hub socket for a Dana 44, some picks, and snap ring pliers. I used Timken bearings throughout, raybestos rotors, Ford pads. Rockauto, it was like 300 bucks

Thanks. Exactly what I needed. Let us know what you think after a test ride.

Thumbs down Picked up supplies (Harbor Freight) and replaced vacuum pump for 4x4

I have three problems:

* Problem 1: Stuck in 4 x 4 low- Today I checked fuses/relays. **Relax under hood, near driver's fire wall; two of them, swap them and it came out of 4 low immediatel**** No issues and changed the vacuum pump. I did not check to see if it was bad, just replaced it since it was fairly cheap. The left locking hub is very difficult to move.
Problem 2: ABS Light on.....
Problem 3: Door ajar warning light stays on
Before that I was going to replace the cabin air filter....but the joke is on me....there is no cabin air filter (so I have a cabin air filter with no place to put it) I know I should do my research
Bought a bunch of stuff to work on the old beast; here is a list:
  • SAE Impact Sockets (Harbor Freight)
  • Two 8 ton jack stands (previously only had 2 ton jack stands) Harbor Freight
  • Two 12 ton bottle jacks (Harbor Freight) I would have went bigger but on a budget.....some day I am going to build my own Statue of Liberty from the ground up. 6" at a time.
  • Vacuum test and fuel pressure check kit (Harbor Freight)
  • Air Socket Wrench 3/8 (Harbor Freight)
  • Step stool (3 step) (max 250 lbs) to work on the engine or whatever (Lowes)
  • Chair Creeper (Harbor freight)
  • Bunch of fuses, door switch indicator, 4x4 vacuum pump (rocket auto)
  • Battery "things to put on the posts" to keep the corrosion down
Today was getting situated, tomorrow will start doing real methodical troubleshooting. N

Today I replaced the throttle body base gasket and cleaned the butterfly valves. The two holes in the butterfly valves were just about gummed closed , rerouted the pvc hose from under the manifold to out and around (half circle shaped) as the old one was stiff a PITA to work with while replacing the PCV valve, then I checked the fittings for the transmission cooler I installed 150 miles ago, put the code reader on the truck and checked for any codes then took it for a 40 mile drive.

I adjusted the wiper arms to stop the drivers side wiper from chattering, diagnosed a problem with my battery isolator for my secondary battery and started gathering info to re finish my bumpers. Also adjusted the sensitivity of the alarm system I installed.
