I have a 95 4.0 auto 4x4 ranger and would like to adjust the bands to see if it would help the 2-3 flare that the truck has.A filter and flush will folow. I know the specs, 10 lbs and back off 2 turns on the od band. And 2.5 turns on the intermediate band. The problem is which band is which. Thanks for your help, Bill
As said above i have a 2-3 flare or slight increase in rpm on the 2-3 shift. I have gotten good at timing it and let off the gas as it shifts, and you dont even notice it. Some one in the ranger forum said that it can sometimes be cured by adjusting the bands, so we will give it a try. As for the flush i was just going to drain, change the filter refill and pump out through the return line fron the cooler.
Are you going to drain the torque converter, too? If not, I wouldn't bother dropping the pan. Changing the oil in the pan without draining the converter changes less than half of the fluid. It's just a waste of time and money to put five quarts of new fluid in with about seven quarts of old fluid.
