I'm tying to mount side tool boxes on my 8' bed. Due to the under rail bed liner I need to use the stake pockets as mounting points.
I've tried the rubber ones that expand and also bought the ones with the butterfly fastener on one end. Neither seems to fit very well.
I'm assuming our Fords would be the most poular stake pocket size due to them being the #1 light truck for years.
Just hoping somebody can tell me what type works best for the Ford before I buy another set. btw, My truck is a 1995 F-150 ext. cab, long bed.
why do u need to use the stake pockets for mounting points, just do like 95% of every one else does and use self tapping screws like you use on metal buildings. I have used these for years, that along with the angled iron supports that come with the side tool boxes, it will not come loose on you. never has on me and i have put mine through hell.......(EDIT)i can see it though if you are trying to not drill holes in the bed , in that case i dont know but it does sound like a work truck though, and if it makes you money, then what is a few holes.......
I guess your right. It is a work truck but also my daily driver. I kind of hesitate to put holes in it but it really is not going to affect the truck. Thanks for a straight answer. It has a lot more imperfections than that anyway.
