we're putting new head gaskets in my truck. we're on the passenger side on the last injector on the back. we're having a little troubble geting it out with the air conditioner box thing in the way. for those of you who have taken injectors out, how do you get that last injector past that plastic ac box?
I think if you remove the insulation on the HVAC box you can remove the small vacuum tank mounted on the side, giving you enough room to get the injector out.

Thanks for the correct termonolgy cuda!
I couldn't rememeber for the life of me what it was actually called.
hey i was working with stacking on the truck tonight..
we didnt get a chance to check back on here tonight so we will work on getting that ac box off tomorrow. thanks alot for the help farm & cuda.
we did get all the rocker arms, pushrods, and all of the other injectors and head bolts out on that side and the drivers side. things are going pretty smoothly so far.
while we are in there we are gonna do the head studs and injectors, then probably a new turbo when he gets the money. we're gonna go with the DIY's.
what do you guys reccomend to do for prying the heads loose?
there was a thread a few weeks ago about pulling heads and i think it was suggested that a big flathead screwdriver be used. im sure uve already done ur homework, but dont forget those suckers weigh about 130# each. what stage diy's are you doing that youre studding the heads? good luck n dont forget to do a writeup when you're done!
are the head gaskests popped or what???? if they are nto blown just replace the bolts with studs one at a time. torque to 90-95 lb/ft then after you get all the studs in go back and tq them to 115 and final up to 130- 135 lb/ft. If a head gasket is blown pull the engine and replace the connecting rod in that cylinder.
When you blow a headgasket there is a chance that the engine can hydralock and bend a rod. It is a rule of thumb that you replace the connecting rod in the cylinder that blew the hg, otherwise if you just stick it back together you risk a rod leaving the block down the road.
