Yes ,I saw that.I have all the hardware from the old one.But thanks for the heads up.$275 the rite color at my door isn't as bad as I thought it would be.Thank god for e-bay

I went with a 5th wheel tail gate. I use the bed of my truck ALOT - and 5th wheel tailgates are not really meant to do this kind of work. What i do is take it off everytime i load up the bed,it also gives me some more room. It works great and looks great. $250 delivered from Northern Tool ... Heres a link

I hate when things like that happen!! Wish you lived closer, I'd give you my old one. It isnt in the best of shape, but not too bad either. I am changing out my box due to damage from tire issues.

Bruce......watch your local Craigslist. I just got a brand new condition bed and tailgate for $500. The guy had noooo clue what he had lol. I have seen just the tailgate alone if it's OEM go for up to $800. The knockoff ones are all over ebay for $2-300. Usually unpainted. Good luck man!

The guys at the junkyard wanted about 500 for one, and that didnt even include the latches or any other parts. Just the shell. $500 for a complete one thats new is a killer deal.

I like the 5th wheel tailgate a lot; very much lighter; air goes through it; looks great (black smooth finish); easy install; one hand opening operation; only one drawback - can't sit on it like a regular tailgate or stand on it for that matter; I think it has an 80 pound weight limitation.

Craigslist is definitely the way to go. I bought one last year, matching color for $125. I did the same thing as you, sort of. The retaining wall by a dumpster just jumped in the way without warning.
The '97 through '04 F150 tailgates are the same as the Super Duty ones also if that helps you at all. Mine came off of a F150. I just pulled the emblems off and popped it right in.
The same handle fits all these, so they might be the same:

1999 - 2005 F-350 SUPER DUTY PICKUP
