Wondering if its worth trying to fix my tailgate or if I should just keep trying to find a used one. I just got the handle and latches working and they work great now.
I was in the same situation as you were awhile ago. And i tried and tried to get it "perfect" but just couldnt get it. Once all the tack welds break there pain to try and get nice again. I eventually went ahead and ordered a new one from LMC, for $100 i believe.
Google Flashback F100s. Talk to Tom. Good western parts at fair price. He attends most of the major shows in the east/midwest so you can arrange to pick up at the show. he is located in NC.

Can you link me to that one for $100? I thought they were like $400
I would get a wrecking yard tailgate before I would buy one aftermarket. They are not as strong as the original. And the original isn't really strong enough.
Have you checked with Ford. They were still avaliable last time I checked.

Just my two cents.
I have been looking for junk yard tailgates with no luck I never really put heavy stuff in the back of my truck or load alot on the tailgate. Mostly my bed carries my fishing poles and tackle box
Ill check with ford. Probably want an arm and a leg for one..
I have also been looking for another tailgate. My truck has an aftermarket tailgate that is just garbage. Anyway, do all the OE tailgates have those holes around the "FORD" lettering? Are those there to hold that chrome panel I sometimes see? I'd like to find an OEM tailgate w/o those holes.
